Log Pile

The cage of this puzzle has the appearance of a loose stack of wooden logs.
Many openings exist, but not large enough to insert any pieces.
The real opening is a central 'log' which slides inwards.
With an inside capacity of 3x3x3 cubies, the challenge is to pack three hexacubes inside the pile.
29 moves including rotation are needed, 20 moves of which are for the last piece in. There is a unique solution among 1.5K assemblies.
Needless to say that ingenuity and geometrical insight are needed to execute this extensive task.
